The successful candidate will be responsible for generating data on translational immunology research needs for immunology (autoimmunity and inflammation) and immuno-oncology research project(s). As a part of this, the successful candidate will work within Immunoscience discovery organization, as well as interface with other functional organizations within and outside BMS. She/he will also be expected to maintain the cutting edge knowledge in the published immunology literature. Key responsibilities include designing, conducting and interpreting results for human and rodent primary immune cell-based assays and other analytical experiments (such as FACS). To start with, this individual will mostly work the supervision of their manager, but a significant experimental independence is expected; in addition, she/he will provide guidance in the design, execution and interpretation of biochemical and cellular assays to research scientists.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Cellular Immunology or a related field, with at least 2 years of post-doctoral work experience in prominent academic lab or in an industry setting. First-hand knowledge, and technical expertise in adaptive and innate cellular immunology, immune tolerance including, but not restricted to primary T, B cells, innate lymphoid cells, dendritic cell activation and proliferation in the context of antigen presentation is a must. This position requires extensive experience with functional primary cell-based assays such as Treg, T-cell, B-cell and dendritic cell differentiation, proliferation, cytokine measurements, receptor binding and occupancy, and cellular signaling using appropriate biochemical and pharmacological techniques. Experience with aseptic isolation and long term tissue culture of rodent and human primary cells and FACS based characterization of the same is a requirement. Good communication skills and evidence of a publication record in peer reviewed immunology journals are considered key qualifications. Bioinformatics training/know-how would be highly desirable.
