The Innovative Medicines organization will deliver a unique competitive advantage to BMS through the delivery of a robust and suitably comprehensive strategy, which integrates Discovery, Commercial, Development and Business Development, enabling the creation of a transformational, diversified specialty portfolio which accelerates the right value-based medicines so our patients never have to wait.
The Portfolio Strategy Lead, Cardiovascular, is a critical member of the Cardiovascular Commercial Strategy team and is a focused, forward-thinking leader who operates with great effectiveness in a complex and dynamic landscape. S/he has responsibility for enhancing the partnership between Commercial and R&D in support of development and commercialization strategies from a value perspective, for all Cardiovascular assets. S/he partners closely with the Innovative Medicines Development and Commercial organizations, , as well as relevant worldwide Functions (Market Access, Market Research, GHEOR, Business Development).
The Lead reports directly to the Head, Cardiovascular Commercial Strategy.
Lead the development of well-informed, robust disease area strategies that shape the “Play to Win” approach which serves as the roadmap for Discovery, Development, Commercial, Medical and BD activity
Provide input into clinical development and investment decisions to ensure early Cardiovascular assets have commercially competitive clinical profiles
Oversee development of market research and customer insights across Cardiovasculardisease areas to inform early asset development, as well as understand and identify new opportunities across the CV Disease Areas (strategic adjacencies)
Leverage customer insights and value perspective to provide commercial assessments supporting rapid, portfolio-enhancing Business Development due diligence in Cardiovascular disease areas.
Drive diversification of Cardiovascular portfolio to mitigate commercial risk and serve disease areas with large unmet medical need
Lay foundations for Worldwide Brand Team (WWBT) deliverables in new indications by preparing Disease Area strategies, Target Opportunity Profiles, Expected Product Profile decision frameworks, access and HEOR strategies, patient journeys etc.
Anticipate implications of new assets on existing indications and brands
Partner with Business Development to identify and evaluate strategic transactions and collaborations
Serve as a BMS Commercial expert in defined Cardiovascular Disease Area(s), including attending management meetings
University Degree required, advanced degree highly preferred
10+ Years of commercial experience with minimum 3 years in BMS. In-market brand/marketing experience required. Cardiovascular therapeutic area(s) experience preferred (or similar from external organizations)
Ability to understand the complexities of international marketplaces
Demonstrated understanding of market access, HTA dynamics and value assessment approaches, with an unrelenting appetite to enhance the product development and commercialization process
Experience in strategic marketing, medical and/or operational P&L roles, including product launch experience
Demonstrated strategic capabilities, including deep experience with scenario planning, design-to-value, and decision analyticsExtensive knowledge of how specialty products are discovered and developed
Understanding of specialty market(s) landscape, customer needs, trends, opportunities, and emerging technologies
Demonstrated track record of leading, working with and integrating high performance, cross-functional teams
Effective communicator (demonstrated public speaking a plus) with ability to influence key strategic decisions and demonstrated ability to successfully and effectively collaborate with R&D organization
Highly entrepreneurial with broad, demonstrated business savvy
Strong analytical and strategic thinking required, with proven ability to execute change
