Bristol Myers Squibb Manager, Product Costing and Application Support in New Brunswick, New Jersey


Responsible for updating master data, calculate and verify consolidated cost throughout the year. Provide system, application and data management business support for Product Costing and integration areas including inventory accounting and variance analysis. Drive analysis of cost change drivers and justifications for cost changes and corrections. Monitor and enforce data standards and business rules. Enforce, monitor and approve system access to consolidated cost and ring-fenced companies. Lead Cost Overlay process. Role must also identify areas of improvement and opportunities, assist on prioritization, draft business functional requirements, identify data scenarios and perform user acceptance testing. As required, support BMS business realignment and transformation initiatives. Strengthen users’ skills developing, delivery training and coaching.

This role support covers a global network of manufacturing and financial users in over 40 regions / countries. This role will also interact with multiple process owners including, but not limited to, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Corporate Financial Analysis (CFA), Record to Report, Procure to Pay, Order to Cash, Master Data Operations, Gross Margin and Application Services.


Product Costing

  • Calculate consolidated cost and local cost (where required) adjusting to unique business conditions or scenarios (e.g. dual sourcing, changes in financial flow). Review and document monthly and annual review and statistics. Monitor product costing metrics and status to ensure all valid materials have a released local and con cost or status preventing movements.

  • Periodically (monthly) run or review data metric reports, align and coordinate with data owners, as necessary.

  • Own and enforce cost change request process, including identify action to prevent, gather information, complete questionnaire and document decision. Identify action to improve. Drive requests through completion.

  • Evaluate and research month-end closing questions including but not limited to revaluation, interco profit (ICP) and inventory obsolescence. Quantify, summarize and document annual inventory obsolescence revaluation.

  • Align with site users and timely update statistical pricing condition records, including Excise Tax. Coordinate update of open Purchase Orders with site / regional leads.

Strengthen Product Costing and Cost Overlay Processes

  • Update, create and/or deliver end-user training and coaching on Product Costing and Cost Overlay incorporating lessons learned into the process. Identify user knowledge gaps, align with users on action to improve skills. This includes drafting work instructions, quick reference guides, overall communication and training documentation) on multiple functional areas for the global network users.

  • Provide end-user subject matter expertise and assistance to end-user questions/inquiries.

  • Initiate (when needed) and coordinate Help Desk tickets supported by WPC team. Track status and coordinate with IT Support team from create through resolution. Update Vitalize, as required.

  • Assist identifying alternatives and coordinating testing, escalation and implementation. Provide subject matter expertise including but not limited to functional specifications, testing developed solutions and post implementation support.

Cost Overlay

  • Lead Cost Overlay process including, but not limited to, logistics, control file and totals. When required, manage and discuss Overlay changes/impact with regional FP&A leads for assigned Market/region. Coordinate and document major cost change drivers by SKU. Assess materiality of Overlay adjustments and when to escalate, as required.

  • Align on Process and Budget instructions with GPS HQ, FP&A, CFA and Regional teams on Overlay process prior to Budget, including non-GPS plants.

Enforce, monitor and approve system access

  • Review and document access of systems/applications with consolidated cost. Manage assignment, completion and updates, as required, to 4230A-ConsolidatedCosts course. Identify and act on exceptions. Drive correction and escalation of security gaps, where needed. Assess business risk on findings, develop and implement resolution where required.

  • Comply with internal control standards.

  • Liaise with multiple stakeholders including SAP security and Corporate Tax, as needed.

  • Complete DSL approvals for NB site and annual access review.



  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting and/or Management Information Systems required. MBA, certification or equivalent a plus.

  • 7+ years of Finance / Accounting experience; 3+ years Product Costing experience preferred, preferably in manufacturing and pharmaceutical industry accounting practices.

  • Demonstrated effective work with cross-functional teams in global and/or regional role and within a multi-cultural environment.

  • Required experience in developing or delivering application training and end user communications.


  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to operate through influence rather than authority.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills. Proven ability to evaluate, prioritize, identify / propose alternatives and promptly resolve problems related to accounting processes and system / applications.

  • Fluent in English language. Additional languages is a plus. Strong written, oral communication and presentation skills.


  • 7+ year experience with SAP CO (Controlling) module and integration to FI (General Ledger) required; Experience with MM (Materials Management), PP (Production Planning), SD (Sales and Distribution) modules and BW reporting preferred.

  • Understanding of Business Intelligence and Enterprise Planning software (TM1, Hyperion, etc.).
