Develops and implement Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure a safe workplace, compliant operations and environmentally responsible management of our activities. Ensure the development and use of processes and systems which assure compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations and company standards or expectations in assigned areas of responsibilities which may include but not limited to Occupational Health and Safety programs and initiatives, Biosafety and Industrial hygiene programs, Environmental impacts, Hazardous Materials Transportation safety and Sustainability.
Position Description and Responsibilities
Develop and implement site EHS programs and objectives to support site operations in alignment with company business objectives and sustainability goals.
Coordinates and ensures EHS permitting and licensing requirements that protect the company and the community. Manage and applies for applicable EHS permits, licenses and renewals.
Conducts EHS program audits and inspections; communicates audit results, develops and tracks remedial actions and action plans to promote the sustainability of the company and assure compliance.
Manages EHS training programs, determines EHS training needs, develops and provides training, and work with site management to ensure training compliance.
Maintains EHS related records and prepares EHS reports as required. Monitors EHS performance metrics, trends and progress toward company goals, and analyze parameters to identify needed changes.
Collaborates with Facilities, Engineering and operating departments to facilitate design and implementation of site projects with EHS impacts.
Contributes to the site emergency response, disaster preparedness and recovery programs. Participates in the Site Emergency Response Teams. Available to work off-hours and weeks as needed.
Interface with regulatory agency officials. Represent BMS during inspections, audits and environmental compliance activities pertaining to the site.
Anticipate and develop plans to address emerging EHS trends, directives and regulations.
Four-year college degree in an EHS related field with 5-7 years’ experience.
Certification in hazardous materials management, safety, or industrial hygiene.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated capabilities in effective negotiations, influencing, advocacy and presentations to all employee and management levels. Strengths in customer service and collaborative work.
Individual must be able to motivate others and lead through example on an individual and team basis through various site EHS committees.
Response to emergencies and major incidents must evoke confidence and ability to respond to rapidly changing situations.
Demonstrated capability in managing multiple projects/tasks, effectively prioritizing tasks, communicating project/task status and ensuring timely closure of assignments.
