The focus is on capturing antibody V genes coding for therapeutic antibody candidates derived from primary single B cells using state-of-the-art cellular and molecular biology technologies. The successful candidate will play an integral role as a key team member of a group focused on therapeutic antibody discovery efforts using Single B cell cloning platform. We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic Research Associate 3 with strong hands-on experience in molecular and cellular biology. The focus is on capturing antibody V genes coding for therapeutic antibody candidates derived from primary single B cells using state-of-the-art cellular and molecular biology technologies. The successful candidate will play an integral role as a key team member of a group focused on therapeutic antibody discovery efforts using Single B cell cloning platform. The person will report into the Integrated Lead Discovery group, but will also participate in many matrix oriented projects and research activities.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Contribute to antibody discovery and generation using single B cell cloning strategy.

  • Perform molecular and cellular biology experiments, including RT-PCR, PCR, recombinant DNA cloning, plasmid preps, bacterial transformation, mammalian transfection for transient protein expression, mammalian cell culture.

  • Conduct assays such as ELISA, FACS, Octet based Ab screening assays, Western blotting.

  • Design, execute and analyze experimental studies, propose creative solutions to troubleshoot problems, and proactively research new methods to improve processes.

  • Collaborate and support other team members effectively to enhance productivity of the group and accomplish organizational goals.

  • Assist with process improvements by thinking critically about the design and execution of experiments, including automation, and SOP development.

  • With strong attention to detail, perform excellent record-keeping, time-management and organization to achieve group and company deliverables.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Life Sciences or related discipline with a minimum of 3 years, or Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of relevant scientific lab experience.

  • Technical expertise in molecular biology, cellular biology and biochemistry is essential.

  • Mastery of sterile cell culture is a must.

  • Prior experience with antibody generation strategies is desired.

  • Experience in multi-parameter/multi-color flow cytometry is desired.

  • Familiarity with HTP automated recombinant protein expression is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, diligent and reliable to meet deadlines.

  • Must be highly collaborative, team-oriented, yet with the ability to work independently.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
