This position provides Payroll expertise to the delivery teams (including process, policy, technical and governance), and is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day payroll operations are consistently being executed around the globe. The Payroll and Time Keeping Lead drives the global payroll strategy ensuring that Payroll strategies, systems, processes and policies, are consistently activated (including M&A, divestiture activity, financial controls, third party payroll relationships) The Lead coordinates the implementation of global projects in Payroll area – e.g. related to Global Mobility, Global Equity, new technologies, etc. The Lead also develops and oversees activities/plans required to mitigate/prevent country exposure to both internal and external risk and continuously looks for areas of improvements in operational processes and design/implement those initiatives.

Position Summary

The Payroll and Time Keeping Lead drives the global payroll strategy ensuring that Payroll strategies, systems, processes and policies, are consistently activated (including M&A, divestiture activity, financial controls, third party payroll relationships)

The Lead coordinates the implementation of global projects in Payroll area – e.g. related to Global Mobility, Global Equity, new technologies, etc.

Detailed Position Responsibilities

Owns global payroll and Time & Attendance end to end processes and systems

Partners with Core HR Lead to develop and maintain the design for end to end employee life cycle processes, and ensures that the processes are operational efficient

Contributes to development of global processes and implementation of approved regional variations related to global payroll and time delivery

Manages delivery of the Expatriate Payroll and ensures integration with and delivery through country payrolls

Owner of process documentation including mylife@bms, business process manuals, faq’s and other vitalize content. Partner with Capability Center teams to develop Local Work Instructions

Designs and ensures implementation of robust financial and operational controls over payroll processing

Ensures that the Payroll and time keeping systems, processes, policies and tools are compliant with internal-process standards and external regulatory requirements.

Provide oversight and guidance to Capability Center teams managing and delivering payroll and time keeping services

Responsible for managing global payroll vendor relationships in partnership with capability center teams, and Vendor Management Lead

Support issue resolution and resolve escalated issues from Capability Centers

Approves any system changes that impacts the process they own

Work closely with other People Services Operations staff and Capability Center Leads to ensure efficient and effective global payroll operations and excellent employee experience

Interface with payroll and time vendors, as needed, to ensure adherence to established procedures and SLAs

Oversee both internal and external audits of global payroll

Ensure that development and execution of administrative policies governing employee payroll and time keeping are in compliance with all applicable regulations

Make recommendations for global payroll and time process improvements

Develop and manage project plans for implementation of significant projects impacting payroll and time keeping solutions

Responsible for the learning / development of functional expertise of the extended team delivering Payroll and Time Keeping activities. Optimizes team contributions through coaching, counseling and mentoring

Builds client relationships in the wider group/unit and provides guidance to and shares knowledge with colleagues/team members relating to global payroll

Communicate changes and/or issues regarding payroll

Strives for continuous improvement of service delivery in accordance with defined standards and co-ordination with the respective actors i.e. via country owners input.

Builds a network of external consultants and academic institutions to leverage best practice knowledge, solutions and products to Payroll Services

Shares internal and external knowledge and best practices amongst People Services

Support payroll operations teams with advice and time when delivering local changes as a result of required projects.

Cascade global changes in a way that payroll teams can understand and implement (taking into consideration local legal requirements drive country alignment to global payroll strategy).

Analyses feedback from Capability Center teams, Finance, HRBP’s and Service Providers to evaluate the effectiveness of the Payroll solutions and continuously improve solutions to ensure the desired impact is delivered.

Monitors and reviews service level targets, works to resolve issues/problems escalated above regional level.

Drive improvements in service where metrics identify major/ongoing risks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree

  • Certified Payroll Professional

  • Five or more years of experience delivering payroll service in global environment

  • Knowledge of various Time and Attendance policies and operations

  • Experience of working in a shared services environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Effective leadership skills to enhance teamwork and promote collaboration

  • Experience working in a global, virtual environment

  • Ability to influence, communicate and build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Strong track record in establishing and driving operational excellence

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage / prioritize multiple activities
